I'm burnt! as in sunburnt. rag day was woah. 3 months of solid hard work just for that few seconds of fame. they had been piecing together scraps of recycled materials for a gigantic float... wished i had a picture of it but i don't... perhaps will get one from someone next time... it looked like this huge boat with a sail with a monster & a clock tower inside. plus some panals on n off the boat.
All was merry and colourful until the monster sticks his head out, then the panels and sail will switch to dark gloomy colours. after that some fight will go on which will end with a galliant warrior decapitating the monster while shouting YAGHHHH and all turns colourful again.
I know the above desciption sounds dead boring but trust me, the presentation was amazing. it's just me. i'm not a good desciber.
3 months (if i'm not wrong) of planning and execution... weeks of almost 24-hour rag rush... large amount of monetary investment... all we got was a lame 'environmentally-friendly' award. ok it's not nice to say 'lame'. it's important to save the environment. but we didn't even get a single award for the design & presentation of the float itself. quite sad huh.
And they either had to buy extra materials like tin cans and drink cartons, or get sponsers to provide them, just to come up with an impressive float to win the competition. is it really environmentally friendly? and the amount of money they spent on this thing... what's the purpose of rag day really??
But questions aside, we had lotsa fun working at this event... =D if you ever caught our presentation, do you see the sail changing colour? it was me pulling at it. lol...
And a big **CHEER** for the rag team too. =D
Opps i think i'll have to mention as well that i was with the kent ridge rag team lol... i haven't been involving myself with any arts fac activities at all...
I'm starting to have a fetish of lorries. i wanna be on a lorry all the time. it all started on inauguration day when we all had to wear formal outfits. a button-up blouse and long pants was what i wore. when it ended, some senior from my hall drove a lorry to send us back to hall in batches. the entire OG managed to squeeze into the ancient-looking lorry, squatting down, feeling like some bangladesh workers big time! so UNGLAM! in formal wear you know!
Whee but we had so much fun in the lorry, cheering leering and waving at passer-bys. when we realised that people outside are staring at us in some sort of a strange way, we could only shout "NTU ROX!" to them...
My second experience on a lorry was in the middle of the night when we had to transport a part of the float over from our hall. sitting on the edge thinking i might slide and fall everytime we reach a slope (hilly NUS), was... exciting. it was cool to get a tour of NUS in the silence of the night though. =)
Now i want a lorry for transportation all the time.
I can't possibly blog down all my experiences in school in one day because there is simply too much to talk about. hence what i'll do now is to....... try to blog as often as possible before i forget the details.
But generally hall life is great! somehow felt that university life wouldn't be complete without staying in a hall.
